PUNA, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) – It seems like the denial of the claim by Lloyd’s of London for the elderly couple, the Haysmers, is a significant setback. The couple, who lost their home in the Leilani Estates to lava, had been paying premiums but were denied coverage. Their lawyer, Jeffrey Foster, mentioned that their case is one of several where claims are being denied by Lloyd’s.

It’s noteworthy that Lloyd’s of London is not licensed in Hawaii, according to the state insurance commissioner, which could impact the state’s ability to intervene in these cases.
